Today marks 15 years being cancer free.
I think that makes this as good a time as any to say goodbye to "In the Battle" and move on to new things...to focus on things other than writing without feeling like I have abandoned this story- or at the very least, left it unfinished.
There is really nothing left to say here, nothing important to add to make the story better, more impactful or complete. The best, most meaningful, part of this whole thing was the cancer season. After that, I struggled to find words to say, and it showed.
In many ways, the best part of my life can be found within the years I battled cancer. My faith was strong. My connection to Christ was strong. More days than not, I knew who I was and why I was here. I believed God could do unimaginably great things in and through me.
I thought that the Cancer season would be the tragic part of my life's story, the hardest leg of the race, the darkest days and longest nights of my life. It was not any of those things. As hard as the Cancer season was, it was not the most difficult. Fighting cancer was hard, but I did not realize how much harder life could be.
I was recently reminded of how many times God revealed Himself to me while I had cancer. I am more thankful than ever that God walked me though the Cancer valley, because He gave me a map to use to navigate the valley I am in now. The Cancer season was not the tragic part of my story, but was rather the way God prepared me for a much more difficult season.
Maybe I'll share it someday.
For now, thank you for sharing my journey.
Much love and Big Hugs-
Kris
